Shane and Nicole’s love story begins in a dark, dingy basement bar known by the name of “Rick's American Café” in East Lansing, Michigan. Nicole had traveled up to EL for the weekend to help some friends celebrate their graduation, and found herself in her favorite spot- the dance floor. A dance battle circle had formed, and a handsome gentleman (with a little courage from our friend tequila) entered the circle to show off his goofy moves. Nicole jumped in the circle and challenged him, showing off her superior dance skills, and the two of them hit it off from there. After a few, short months of dating, Nicole found herself up north with Shane’s family for the Fourth of July, and it was then that she realized how deeply she had fallen for her fellow dance partner.
Shane & Nicole dated for the next 5 years, Shane finishing his degree at MSU while Nicole lived in Detroit attending school there. They spent brisk, fall weekends together tailgating for the Spartans, and cold, winter weekends were spent playing in the snow. But their real love for the outdoors comes from those amazing Michigan summers. Whether it be boating or simply sitting outside with one another for dinner, they loved spending their time together outside. Every summer, they made it a point to take a getaway trip to their favorite spot – Traverse City, MI. They spent their time there wine tasting, hiking, biking, and bar hopping, all while enjoying the most beautiful scenic lakefront nestled in northern Michigan. In May of 2019, while enjoying a glass of wine and walking the grounds admiring the breathtaking views of Ciccone Vineyard, Shane dropped to one knee and asked Nicole to be his wife. Now, one year later, they look forward to returning for their wedding. Northern Michigan has held such a special place in their hearts, and they are so excited to share this beautiful place with you all as they join in marriage.
